Otome Experience at Anime Expo 2019

If you read my previous post, you already know that I only had the opportunity to attend Anime Expo 2019 for one day. I thus was unable to see and do all things otome but allow me to share what I managed to get done anyway.

NTT Solmare Corp (Shall we date?), cybird and Voltage Otome Romance were present at AX 2019. Yes, I did say Voltage Otome Romance. (They didn’t hold a booth the year prior but did so this year!)

Shall we date?

The first booth I visited was NTT Solmare Corp’s Shall we date? booth. I don’t think I managed to get every single freebie that was available from their booth. What I did manage to obtain though was a sample book, a sticker, a pin, a card and a bag. It honestly was a bit difficult for me to figure out what goodies would be given out simply because I don’t think they announced it beforehand on their social media sites. Similar to the Voltage Otome Romance booth, details were on a board(s) and well, I’d prefer to know in advance through social media than having to spend time reading from a board, the day of. I don’t think I’d mind as much if I had four days to attend AX, but when you have a life as a full time employee and can only attend a four day event for one day, things are a bit more complicated.

Anyway, I like Shall we date?’s bags. They’re big and obnoxious. I could be wrong but I think this year’s bag was a tad bit bigger than last year’s. To all of the attendees I bumped into with the Shall we date? bag, sorry but not sorry. Lol While this is not my most favorite bag I have from them, I have to say I liked how they used all sides of the bag to showcase (advertise) Moe! Ninja Girls, Obey Me!, Blood N Roses and Ninja Shadow. My favorite is the Ninja Shadow side which shows off the Nakagawa brothers. :p (Makoto is my preference, btw.)

Like last year, the booth had an area where you can take a photo. No trick art this year but I did receive a photo opportunity with Miura Ayme, who was cosplaying as an Obey Me! character. If you want me to be honest, Miura Ayme seemed lethargic and jaded. Perhaps it was just my imagination but that’s really the vibe I got from him… Maybe he was tired or just in character or something but I can’t say for sure since I’ve yet to play Obey Me! Until the game is out, hmm.)

Cybird Ikemen Series Booth

This year, I did not partake in the kabe-don. Hiroto was there and yes, I saw him but I was there to shop instead. Considering the fact that I’m so against spending money on expensive things, I do not know how I ended up making a purchase(s) here. I’m surprised at myself. Really, I am. A big part of me thinks it has to do with guilt from not having made a purchase last year. Ieyasu (Ikemen Sengoku) as a mouse was something I had wanted to purchase but because his price was quite steep, I decided that I’d rethink it over. By the time I decided that I would buy him, I learn from staff that he’s sold out. That, my friends is what happens at AX when you take forever to decide whether you should spend money on something or not. (The attendees here, for the most part do not experience pre-guilt when it comes to spending. I, on the other hand usually experience it.) Fast forward to the present, I end up buying Kenshin and Ieyasu. I also end up buying a random Ikemen Sengkoku button pin and guess what? I randomly got Ieyasu looking prickly af. I cannot tell you how happy I was to have received him! (The only meh thing is the back of the button looks a bit dingy but other than that, I’m happy with him. Lol)

One downer is the fact that I didn’t get a bag from cybird this year. I’m not sure if they were out completely for the duration of AX or if they were just out for one day, but it was completely gone when I asked if they still had free baggies. (Meh) Oh well…

Anyway, thanks to my so-called splurge, I at least managed to get a raffle towards winning one of the Ikemen guys but the raffle was pointless since I had to be present on the final day of AX 2019 at 2 pm to claim the guy should my raffle get called upon. This is great for those that have a four day badge but for those that have a one day badge? But even for those that have a four day badge, if they for whatever reason cannot be at AX on the last day, it’s a bummer for them. Sure, it’s not the end of the world, but still…

Oh, and if I won, my Ikemen guy would have been traveling with me via public transportation. If you think I’m joking, I’m not because it’s been done before. Not with cybird but with Idea Factory.

Idea Factory

Talking about Idea Factory, I actually passed by their booth to double check on if they’d have non-neptunia stuff. I kind of knew in advance that they wouldn’t offer other items but decided to check anyway. I also kind of wanted to show them my itabag but didn’t… (FYI: My itabag contained Chikage Kazama and Souji Okita so yeah…)

Voltage Otome Romance

Since I’ve already written about my experience with Voltage Otome Romance at AX2019, you can just click here to read all about it. I don’t think I mentioned in that post how one guy was making fun of his sister (?) at the Voltage Otome Romance panel. They were sitting behind me and it kind of rubbed me the wrong way how here was this girl trying to enjoy this panel (or otome stuff in general) and here’s this guy just bashing on all things otome. At one point, I recall her asking him if he would rather her have a real bf and I’m like wow. (I think his vibes were really affecting her negatively and I think I, along with other attendees of that panel should’ve talked some sense into him but I don’t think any of us could even if we wanted to since the panel was already running at that time. Meh.)

So there you have it on my otome experience at Anime Expo 2019.
