Descanso Gardens

I had plans to go to Descanso Gardens. I just hadn’t planned on going the day I decided to go. I had on the wrong outfit. (How very LA of me to say such a thing! Lol) Honestly, I could care less how I looked, but my outfit’s material was soaking up every ounce of that sun’s warmth! It was unbearably hot for me. Fortunately, with Descanso Gardens being in La Canana Flintridge, by the mountains, it was a lot cooler, making my outfit appropriate overall.

Anime Expo 2018

I originally did not plan on attending Anime Expo this year. I’m not too sure why I originally wanted to pass up on Anime Expo 2018 but it probably had something to do with crazy badge pick up lines, overly excessive people (Rumor has it that tickets were oversold or something.), cancellation of showings/screenings at the last minute and not wanting to spend a lot of money. (If you’re curious, you can see what I bought last year here and here.) So, what was it that made me decide to go this year, borderline last minute? I really don’t know. A specific panel perhaps? A desire to visit specific game booths?
Since I decided to attend Anime Expo borderline last minute, my ticket was not cheap. To make matters worse, the ticket was for a one day pass only and my, was the cost steep! It’s interesting though because I purchased a day pass borderline last minute in 2015 and that ticket was a lot cheaper than the 2018 one day pass. Hmmph. If only I knew I’d be attending, I would have gone for a 4 day pass early on or when they had a sale going on. Ah, oh well.

A Waking Dream of Mexico (LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil)

I am a fan of Cirque du Soleil. And as a fan of Cirque du Soleil, when I learned LUZIA would be performing in Southern California (Los Angeles and Costa Mesa), I knew I had to attend. So, did I attend? Why, of course!

Kangnam, the restaurant

Kang Nam Restaurant in Ktown, Los Angeles Not long ago, I had the opportunity to eat at Kang Nam Restaurant. The restaurant is located on the western side (not exactly the “happening” side) of Los Angeles’ Koreatown. The joint has its own parking lot (free) right across from the restaurant and a valet parking area behind the restaurant for $2.I of course didn’t pay for valet as 1) I’m too much of a cheapskate to pay for such a novelty/privilege and 2) I managed to get a parking spot in the restaurant’s non-valet lot.

Chinatown: Golden Dragon Parade and Frank Romero’s Art

Los Angeles’ Chinatown had it’s 118th annual golden dragon parade on February 4th. I had the opportunity to attend it for the first time and all I can say is that it was okay.
For the parade to be the 118th one, I was expecting something a little more spectacular but it really was just ok.It didn’t help much either that the parade didn’t start on time. In a way, this was a good thing since it gave me time to purchase food and find an ideal spot to view the parade.
