Flamboyance at the South Coast Botanic Garden

What’s pink and flamboyant? Flamingos! Flamboyance, an event held at the South Coast Botanic Garden is officially over and I almost didn’t get to attend it. But of course, I made it and am rather happy to have seen all of the topiaries featured there.

Portland International Rose Test Garden

If roses are your cup of tea, the International Rose Test Garden in Portland, Oregon might just delight you. It sits across from the towering Portland Japanese Garden and is free for all to enjoy. It’s easily accessible by shuttle and makes a nice starting point within Washington Park.

Escaping to Lake Shrine

Lake Shrine has been on my to visit place for a good amount of time. Fortunately for me, I was able to finally visit Lake Shrine upon successfully reserving a spot for myself. While the reservation process is easy, it’s not exactly guaranteed that you’ll receive a reservation.

Purple Flowers

Sometimes, it’s the small things that bring joy to you. It catches you offguard and brings a smile to you.
On a day I went for a walk, I encountered beautiful purple flowers. It’s Spring, yet not really Spring. With Summer about to enter yet the weather being nice and cool that day, it was certainly an interesting day.

Matsushiro Castle

Of all the cities I visited in Japan, I’d have to say that Matsushiro (Nagano) was my favorite. The charming city gave me glimpses into what life may have looked like in the past. Centuries ago even thanks to what’s left of Matsushiro Castle.
