Getting Touristy: Warner Bros. Studio Tour

If there’s anything super touristy to do in Southern California, it’s got to be the Warner Brothers Studio Tour. As a So Cal native, I find it rather amusing that I’ve never ever once gone on a studio tour before, whether it be at Warner Brothers or Paramount Pictures.

However, I recently had the opportunity to do a VIP tour at Warner Brother Studio in Burbank, CA and I must say it was overall, good. Keep in mind that I say this as someone who’s not a TV geek and someone that owns a non-functioning TV. Those that went with me that happened to be TV geeks found the tour to be pretty good.

Our guide was nice.  And it wasn’t just the guide that was nice; the valet parking attendant was super nice as well.  Food options were diverse and what I had (Mexican food) was actually delicious.  To be honest, it was a pleasant surprise since I was expecting the food to be mediocre. I will admit one thing, though and that is the Rice Krispy treat was too sweet.  Overwhelmingly sweet.  Obviously not my cup of tea whatsoever however I’m sure those with a super sweet tooth would’ve loved that darn thing.

There were a few things I learned from the studio tour. Some of these things include:

  • Lights used in filming emit high temperatures.  (Think 140 degrees Fahrenheit!)
  • New York scenes can easily be filmed here in So Cal inside the lovely Warner Brothers Studio.  (I guess what you thought was New York on TV may not have really been New York, after all…)
  • If I recall correctly, the first batmobile was $200,000 whereas the newest one is like a million dollars or something.  (I don’t know about you, but I’d rather own a house than a car at that price.
