One Piece Cinema Kabuki screening

One Piece Kabuki
On Black Friday, I somehow found out about a free screening event for One Piece Super Kabuki II. The screening took place yesterday and I of course attended! Attendees ranged from One Piece fans, Kabuki enthusiasts to neither of the two. I will be honest and say that I had never read One Piece (manga). But despite this, I was still able to understand and follow the Kabuki cinema screening. I think the introduction prior to the start of the screening was helpful. That, along with whatever I looked up on One Piece prior to my attending the screening at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres.

One Piece Super Kabuki II was good. I say good because I was able to follow the story and I could actually see and appreciate all of the actors’ hard work. I honestly am amazed at how some of the actors were able to play multiple roles. (One role is exhaustive enough as is, but to play 3 roles and sound/act different for each of the roles? That’s just pure talent right there.) As an added bonus, I found myself attracted to two of the actors. lol More on this later should you be interested…

The screening experience itself would have been better had the seating been more comfortable (blame that on TCL), had it not been so hot inside the theatre (TCL to be blamed here again. It was a relatively cold day so most were dressed in layers or in ridiculously warm clothing. I felt a bit of a breeze near the end of the screening, but by then, it was of course already too late and pointless.) and had the introduction portion run smoothly (Ex. It may have been a bit funny how the next slide wouldn’t appear when the speaker requested for it to be up, but when stuff like this happens in excess, it comes off as a bit unprofessional.). The experience would have also been better for me had the person in front of me not take photos of practically every slide featured during the introduction and had the person sitting to my left not smell so displeasing to me (She was chewing gum and I could smell it, smelling like old gum mixed with a tinge of cigarette scent. Ew.). To be fair, I’m sure I may have annoyed people sitting near me for reasons I am not aware of. I hope not, though.

I learned from the introduction portion of the screening event that One Piece Super Kabuki II was actually shortened from 3 hours to 2 hours. I would have loved to have seen the original version but then again, would I really have wanted to? I ponder this because even at 2 hours, I wanted an intermission session. (I kid you not! And it makes sense since I wasn’t exactly sitting comfortably in those TCL theatre chairs.) But I suppose intermissions are usually reserved for live performances.

Talking about live performances, I would love to see One Piece Kabuki live! The only catch here is that I would need access to subtitles and unfortunately, subtitles, even if it worked out would be annoying to attendees that can actually understand the Japanese language.

Now for the part that you’ve been patiently waiting for! Earlier, I mentioned that I got attracted to two of the actors in One Piece. Can you figure out which two?

Why, it was Hayato Nakamura (played Sanji and Inazuma) and Seiji Fukushi (played Ace). Right now, I’m very tempted to embed a bunch of heart emojis but I’ll control myself. lol

I looked up Hayato Nakamura and was quite surprised to learn that he’s only 22. It’s surprising simply because he came off a lot more mature in One Piece. Regardless, he’s good looking. (How can anyone have such cute eyes and a perfect nose?) “Ace” of course was a looker himself as well. 😘😻❤️
(Three emojis. Not bad, right? lol)

Now that I’ve confessed who I found attractive from One Piece Super Kabuki II, I’m going to end the post.
