Lightscape before Dark

Lightscape

Have you ever wondered what those flashy light events at night look like during the day? Well, I’ve got you covered. I had the opportunity to visit Lightscape at The Arboretum before dark and let’s just say it was interesting.

I wanted to attend at least one light illumination event by the beginning of the new year but it just didn’t happen. I couldn’t justify the pricing of an admission ticket, along with the additional cost for parking. These events are not cheap. They never were cheap to begin with but they certainly were more affordable before COVID came around.

Before the pandemic, I had the opportunity to attend one of these events (Moonlight Forest) at night and I have to admit that these events can be really nice. The thing is that there are so many of these events in Southern California that you need to be picky with which one you opt to attend or else you’ll be spending a lot of money. Of course, if you want to attend all of them, then that’s your call and more power to you!

Anyway, being able to see what Lightscape looks like before nightfall is a bit of a mysterious thing. I say this because even though you get a glimpse into Lightscape before dark, you are actually clueless as to what it might actually look like at night. The magic is on at night and if you’re curious enough, you’ll have to pay for that admission ticket! I was curious but not that curious. Lol

Whatever I saw looked like a pending set up for the actual event.

Flowers at Lightscape

I saw neon strings, huge stars, a bunch of light bulbs on the ground, a “cave” with a bunch of lights, white “flowers”, disco balls on redwood trees, big red spikes, new age frosted trees, large snow globes, pretty balls, an empty bar and a mediocre Christmas tree, which clearly was just there for decor.

In regards to the “cave”, the big stars and gazillion lights on the ground, I have an idea of what they’d look like at night. And I have an idea only because I’ve attended an event like Lightscape before.

In regards to all the other things I saw, I have no idea what they could possibly look like at night.

Translation: You are not going to figure it out by coming to the event before it starts! If people could easily figure it out, I doubt they would allow people to enter The Arboretum during the day. Lol

I was there to enjoy The Arboretum itself so I wasn’t bummed out in any way. Although I couldn’t figure out the “puzzle” in front of me, it was still pretty cool to see what Lightscape looked like before dark.
