Anime Night Mart

It was hot and because of that, I almost didn’t show up to Anime Night Mart. But in the end, I decided to go which was a great decision because the event was for free and the weather wasn’t as hot by the time I arrived.

What can I say about this event? I honestly can’t say much since I didn’t hang out for too long. There were a good amount of vendors selling a bunch of things that I couldn’t care less to buy. Translation: I didn’t go there to buy merchandise.

I swiftly browsed around but never really paid much attention to prices and all that because I wasn’t planning on buying anything AND it’s a given that items at events like these will be overpriced without a doubt.

Ran into a non anime related vendor that happened to attract a good amount of people most likely because attendees (and as is with most anime fans) seem to have a thing or two for corgis. As much as I find corgis to be attractive and unique looking dogs, I don’t get the excessive obsession with corgis at events like these. But ok, I’d rather have people simping for a corgi… (lol)

I know I said I didn’t pay much attention to vendors but I happened to pay a little more attention to this specific vendor. They were selling bags and wallets with corgi prints on them. They actually looked tasteful and could cater to people of all ages. The seller (male) also seemed very nice. But as you already know, I wasn’t going to buy anything and the bags were “reasonably priced” but not cheap either.

Then there were the usual vendors selling anime related merchandise from car decals, beanies, keychains and more. There was also a vendor selling “kawaii” merchandise (Sanrio stuff). There weren’t any food/drink vendors and I kind of wonder if that’s because food/drink vendors weren’t allowed due to the Buena Park Downtown Mall already being a site with many eateries.

I saw a couple of cosplayers and all I can say is that I thought I’d see more. However, I’m thinking there may have been more cosplayers around prior to my arrival to Anime Night Mart. I believe there was a DJ area but at the time of my arrival, they weren’t spinning any tunes and a representative was just making announcements of prize winners, I assume.

I may have arrived at the right time because it wasn’t very crowded. The event’s a relatively chill event and a good place to look around for merchandise you might want. Of course, you don’t have to spend money at the event. In fact, I suggest you to always be wary of spending money at such events since you usually can always buy it next time around. I’m not sure of the specifics but it seems like Anime Night Mart is held every few months. If it’s not held at the Buena Park Downtown Mall, it might be held at another location in Orange County, such as Westminster Mall.
