Sunright x Love and Deep Space Drinks

I honeslty had no idea that Sunright, a boba joint was having a Love and Deep Space promotional collaboration event. I really just happened to enter a Sunright because I wanted a drink. Once I realized what was going on, I ended up buying two drinks (one Love and Deep Space drink and one regular drink). So, what’s in it for you if you buy a Love and Deep Space drink? You receive a Sunright x Love and Deep Space cup holder (wrapper?), coaster associated with your drink’s character and a chibi sticker of your drink’s character. The catch is that you have to come early enough to ensure that you can snag the freebies associated with the Love and Deep Space drink. The other catch is that you can only purchase one Love and Deep Space drink per day. (Translation: You can’t buy all 5 in one day.)

I managed to try 4 of the 5 Love and Deep Space drinks. In order from yummy to not so yummy per my taste buds: Caleb, Zayne, Xavier and last but not least, Rafayel. Here are my detailed thoughts on it:

Rafayel (Matcha Oolong Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Boba)

I’m sorry but Rafayel did not taste good at all. It’s strange for me to say this when I’ve actually enjoyed an oolong milk tea from Sunright before. I don’t know if I just happened to get a flop or if this was how it was supposed to be made but I did not like it at all and considering it was the first Love and Deep Space drink I had, I was disappointed. Something was a bit overpowering in this drink. Was it the matcha or was it the milk tea? I am not too sure but let’s just say the drink came off quite bitter and unbalanced. Like, I had a sip and decided to just save it for the following day. lol (Not a joke. But on the more serious side, I had to do this anyway since I had already finished another Sunright drink that day. Had Xavier’s drink been available that day, I might have opted for that instead and been a relatively happy camper.) Despite me not feeling this drink, I have to say that it somewhat fits Rafayel. Bitter yet quite rich in taste. From what I know, he’s rather bitter of mankind and would pass as old rich (was a deity) as well as new rich. lol I think there are nerizens that like this drink, but I don’t like it. I already don’t care for boba in boba drinks so I just really did not care for this drink at all and would not want to ever drink something like this again…

Caleb (Cosmic Apple Fragrant Oolong with Honey Boba)

Caleb was so, so, so yummy! If I were to be attracted to someone just by the taste of a drink, it’d be Caleb. Considering how Caleb is an obsessive character, it would probably be best for me to not be attracted to someone like that, but I enjoyed this drink very much. Wasn’t too thrilled with one of the employees making the drinks there BUT omg, I was so happy with this drink especially after my disappointment with Rafayel… I told myself that I’d have to get this drink again BUT the magic of the drink kind of subsided when I overheard a girl, on another day mentioning apple juice. (She liked the drink and this drink finished her Love and Deep Space collection. Unlike me, she had a BF to help her out with the collection. LOL) Honestly, I didn’t taste apple juice so I don’t know what this girl was talking about. But apple juice? What is WOW about apple juice? It’s kind of like how I used to have a thing for Chester’s Fries in Ranch flavor only to not care for it as much after hearing someone say it tastes like croutons. Croutons? Really? It just gets rid of the WOW factor. I no longer feel satisfied when I consume Chester’s Fries in Ranch because I can only think of croutons! Heck, I don’t even buy them anymore which is probably a good thing because it’s junk food. LOL Anyway, by the time I want this drink again, the collaboration will be over but I believe they would still be able to make the same type of drink for you. If you happen to have a similar taste bud as me, you might want to ask for a drink like this. I must share that I didn’t finish this drink in one setting so by the time I was ready to finish it, the drink was no longer cool and the boba tasted off (tart). These drinks are meant to be finished within an hour or so maximum. Otherwise, keep it chilled in the refrigerator for later consumption. (I was out and about and could not put Caleb inside a refrigerator, okay?)

Xavier (Honey Taro Frostie)

I somewhat had high hopes for Xavier’s drink after hearing a netizen enjoying both Caleb’s and Xavier’s drink BUT Xavier’s drink was just meh. It wasn’t spectacular to me in any way. First, I should mention that I don’t really care for taro much. I feel like people in API communities go crazy for taro/ube but to me, it doesn’t really taste like anything. Taro tastes rather bland to me. So, I liked how they incorporated a good amount of honey in this drink. But honey is another thing I’m not too crazy about and don’t even associate it with boba drinks. I really was expecting this drink to taste differently. Maybe if I altered the drink by adding on additional treats, like pudding (lol), it may have been more to my liking. It was just quite bland and the honey stood out against the blandness of the taro. It was like drinking carbs with drizzled honey… I think that really is the best way to describe Xavier’s drink. On a brighter note, I do think the drink fits with Xavier. The color of the drink basically matches Xavier’s hair color. And for whatever reason, the drink comes off childish/immature to me which matches with Xavier. Like, this is a drink that a child would like… I could be wrong but I think a lot of people like Xavier because he’s like a good boy (puppy). He also does look the youngest out of them all. And unlike Rafayel, he’s not full of himself despite his looks. (Confession: Out of all the characters, I was first attracted to Xavier’s face card. lol)

Zayne (Lemon Jasmine Tea with Jasmine Tea Jelly)

I was wondering if I should bother with Zayne’s drink. I really was going back and forth on the idea of it because a netizen said it was like lemonade. Like, why would I want lemonade from a boba joint? Also, I wasn’t sure if I could justify an additional splurge especially if I’d end up not liking the drink. But guess what? I’m so glad I ended up getting this drink because Zayne tasted yummy! It was such a pleasant surprise. It was also funny because I kept smelling the drink before actually drinking it since I kept telling myself that I wouldn’t like this drink. lol I was wrong. Not only was the drink delightfully good, it was also fragrant. It did not taste like lemonade at all. It truly was a good combination of lemon and jasmine tea. I don’t usually care for lemon iced tea but this was good and if you are a fan of Southern iced tea, you actually might like this specific drink. I found this drink to be a perfect match with Zayne. With him being a doctor, it makes sense for the drink to have lemon in it because lemons are full of vitamin C. Also, jasmine tea is “healthier” than the other teas, such as oolong in that it has less caffeine in it. It just makes sense and there’s something very refreshing about the taste and fragrance of this drink. If he’s someone that does healing work, this is a drink can heal you as a pick me up drink. Now, Sunright advises customers to shake their drink 17 times for their drink to be perfect and I did not do that. (I didn’t do that with Rafayel’s drink either but I have a feeling that I still would not like Rafayel’s drink either way.) So, it did taste so much stronger, especially with the jelly once I was past the halfway point. It was perfect in the beginning, though…

Sylus (Grapefruit Four Seasons with Agar Boba)

As mentioned above, I was only able to try 4 of the 5 drinks. Sylus’ drink was the one I did not get the chance to try and I’m wondering if I might have liked it. I am questioning this because just like how I thought I wouldn’t like Zayne’s drink, I might have been pleasantly surprised with Sylus’ drink. There are even some netizens out there saying they don’t like grapefruit but enjoyed Sylus’ drink. I really could not justify splurging on the fifth and final drink just to have a completed freebie collection. It just didn’t make sense to me yet at the same time, I feel like I should’ve just visited Sunright on the last day of the collaboration for a Sylus. lol

Note: I haven’t yet played Love and Deep Space even though I really want to. I’m hesitant since there are some netizens that mention how the characters can coincidentally be in tune with what you’re up to. I don’t know what to make of that. But when I do finally succumb to this game, I think it’ll be funny to end up liking Sylus most and not having managed to get his drink/freebie when there was an opportunity to do so. lol
