Restricting Myself from Traveling Abroad

With travel out of the question due to the many hassles, expenses and uncertainties revolving around COVID, I do my best to not think about venturing off to Asia again. And when my mind does go astray, I ask myself if I would even be happy if I were somewhere else right now?

I like to think that travel is a form of escape for many of us. Some of us save every penny just to go on a well deserved vacation that’s just always too short and expensive. (No one should ever assume that budget traveling is cheap because the expenses all add up eventually!) The thing is that these vacations aren’t always great and when great, they’re only temporary.

Despite this, many of us continue to seek and find grass that’s greener and that’s a darn shame.

With little desire to find out if the grass is truly greener elsewhere, I’ve settled on the idea of staying put until at least this whole COVID fiasco is truly figured out. I do not want to deal with changing rules and restrictions. I also do not want to be away from my home country if another breakout or two were to occur again, which “staticians” predict will occur.

But I get that people are antsy. They’ve been wanting to get out and about. They want to experience something better under the belief that the grass is truly greener elsewhere. Some might even be set on starting anew in a brand new place, in a brand new country.

I feel differently, though. I don’t feel I need to go into the unknown while things are still on shaky ground. While I am tired of the neverending craziness that exists around COVID, I have no desire to go abroad at this moment. I can wait and will continue to wait until the timing is more suitable.

In the meantime, I think I can explore places that people from outside of my country would love to explore, if given the opportunity. These places are often overlooked and taken for granted, yet can be just as joyous as the places we visit abroad.
