    Tet Festival in Fountain Valley

    Tet Festival in Fountain Valley

Lunar New Year festivities may be over but I can still recall the wonderful time I had at the first Lunar New Year event I attended in the year of the cat (rabbit). Of all the Lunar New Year festivals I’ve attended thus far in Southern California, this was the best one I’ve attended. I realize that it’s been a long time since I last went to any festival but I can assure you that I’m not being biased in any way here. If you ever ponder between attending the Tet Festival in Costa Mesa versus the one in Fountain Valley, opt for the one in Fountain Valley. For starters, there is no admission fee to Fountain Valley’s Tet Festival.

Villa Park Lunar New Year Celebration

Villa Park Lunar New Year Celebration

I’m going to be honest and say that the Villa Park Lunar New Year Celebration was a relatively boring event. I was actually quite close to leaving early on in the festival but decided to stay around. I realize that it was a free event, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was a pretty boring event.

    Luminaria Nights

    Luminaria Nights

I’ve always found New Mexico to be a fascinating state. From its unique Southwestern architecture to their annual holiday traditions of luminarias, I wouldn’t be surprised if New Mexico were to meet almost all of my expectations and in the process, win my heart. Luminarias aren’t really a thing outside of New Mexico however I was still able to experience it here in Southern California, at the California Botanic Garden. Wonderful, isn’t it?

    Riverside’s 30th Festival of Lights

    Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights held in Riverside by The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa makes it to various lists and for good reason. It’s free and it’s pretty. Since I’d been there before, I was heavily contemplating on whether I should bother with going there again. Well, in the end, I decided to just go to the event because it’d been a while.

    Riverside’s Festival of Trees (2022)

I remember silently gawking at the beautiful Christmas trees back when I first attended the Festival of Trees at the Riverside Convention Center in 2019. Unfortunately, I didn’t do much gawking this time around. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that I didn’t see enough holiday cheer in the atmosphere and was thus just turned off by everything.
