Canceled Again: Songkran Festival
A Thai New Year festival (Songkran) that I’ve been looking forward to attending in 2024 especially after not being able to attend any Lunar New Year events this year is canceled. Why? I want answers especially when it was canceled in 2023 as well.

Aesthetics at Huntington Library
Snagging a free day ticket to the Huntington Library was the highlight of my most recent visit to the grounds. It’s summer. It’s hot and it’s even hotter the more inland you go. If you didn’t know already, San Marino is next to Alhambra and the likes which means it’s basically in the San Gabriel Valley area. Valley… In other words, it’s hotter here. Fortunately, plentiful shade and the occasional breeze made this summer outing tolerable. I must admit that I was sweating like a pig, though… -
Santa Anita Depot
In a somewhat hidden place of The Arboretum is the Santa Anita Depot. I’m thinking it’s safe to say that not many visitors of The Arboretum are aware of this hidden gem of a museum. It’s full of history and I’m glad to have finally run into the Santa Anita Depot. -
Flamboyance at the South Coast Botanic Garden
What’s pink and flamboyant? Flamingos! Flamboyance, an event held at the South Coast Botanic Garden is officially over and I almost didn’t get to attend it. But of course, I made it and am rather happy to have seen all of the topiaries featured there.

Tropical Butterflies at South Coast Botanic Garden’s SOAR
If you read my previous post, you already know that I visited the South Coast Botanic Garden. In addition to going “egg hunting” on the grounds of the garden, I went there to specifically see their tropical butterfly exhibit called SOAR. There’s an additional fee to visit this exhibit but it’s worth it if you want to see exotic butterflies up close.
